Catching Up

So, we have been doing a lot! Since Thanksgiving, we have put up more curtains in our house, put up ceiling fans, bought a new range, unpacked most of our boxes, and even had our first official house guests! (Thanks Max for bringing Laura and Cody!) We love our house, just not the commute! Some days it is interesting but it is a new adventure! Both Tiffany and I are riding the Metrolink, and it means we have new experiences almost every day, from the woman who told me about having her things removed just so she wouldn't have kids, to being stuck for an hour and a half on a train due to an accident up ahead, to the fun of catching buses with minutes to spare to hour and a half long bus rides, it is great! For instance, tonight I left at 6 pm and got home around 9:30, and only then because Cody came and gave me a ride home (Thanks guys!) for the last 6 or 7 miles, since the bus would only take me so far. Tiffany has some good stories too, but I will let her tell them later. There are god times too, like when I walked to the train station in the rain and got soaked, but had the chance to meet a recent convert ot the church and have a great conversation with her along the way. I also have had more time to reflect, think, and read my scriptures, which has been amazing!

On a different note,( an off key one) here are some pictures of lots of stuff.

Thanksgiving

We are very thankful to be in our lovely new house! We had our challenges to get here, and still have some (Moving is expensive!) but love where we are. We now have room for y'all to come visit, just no extra beds...yet.

Thanks to everybody who helped us move and sent their thoughts and good wishes...we needed them! It was a stressful few days...from not being given any keys by the seller so we had to call an emergency locksmith and pay him 240.00, to having Time Warner Cable claim they came out on Saturday and found no one home, which was untrue, to I think almost melting my poor Discover card as we spend money for things like curtains, ceiling fans, ranges, and a washer and dryer, and a long commute to work at least for a bit, we have and will over come them all and the house is so worth it!

Thanks most of all to our Father in Heaven for helping us through all this. I know we could not have done it on our own.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

We signed our life away!

So, we signed our loan documents ...the huge pile of them, and will soon be the proud owners of a house in Moreno Valley, CA! It is exciting and scary and scary and scary and exciting and scary. Did I mention scary? We love our new house, but are scared about the mortgage payment that is larger than our previous rent and the whole moving new jobs commuting situation. We look forward to moving in next weekend, so if anyobdy has a free Saturday, c'mon down!

We got a House!

It's official! We have a house ! We found the house that fits us in Moreno Valley, CA! It is a beautiful 3 yr old near new house, 3 bedroom two bath house with a two car garage, and a backyard just tiny enough to cool stuff in and not have to mow! We expect to move sometime next month, and once we get in y'all are invited!*

Preserving Marriage

Though I am usually a very even handed I can see your point of view kind of guy, I have found I do have convictions. Voting yes on Proposition * in California is about protecting rights...protecting rights of parents to protect children from things taught in school, churches being sued, and intiolerance of any other view than gay marriage is okay. No man is an island, and what happens to one affects all.

Bob's Birthday

Thanks Everybody for all the birthday wishes! It was a fun birthday...number 29 as Tiffany likes to remind me! But then I just remind her she is 30! Muhahahahaha! I worked that day and then we went out to Yamabuki, a Japanese restaraunt at the Paradise Pier Hotel near Disneyland. It had great Japanese food, and I even had sushi for the first time in years! Not too bad actually. Then, for my birthday, they brought me Mickey Mouse, made out of an orange( a very good Valencia Orange I might add!) Mickey really is everywhere!

So we met John and Jamie and their kids and some other family members while they were here...It was fun! We didn't meet up till about 9 and stayed till almost 1! Mostly, we sat and talked to Jamie while Nile slept and John went on an odyssey to find a new lightsaber. It was great to see you guys! We miss you! BTW, the pics are from my camera phone, so they are what they are!

Pictures, Finally!

So, I have been remiss in posting pictures lately, so I am slowly catching up.

These are some of a trip to Legoland we took in June. See? I'm only two months behind!

P.S. Miniland is our favorite! The rest is slightly below average.

1 a.m....what am I doing awake?

Mostly, writing a paper for school that I have procrastinated on. This class has been a tough one for me, as I have never really gotten "in " to it and have really been skating by on the seat of my pants, and it has come back to bite me! I think I just want to be done with school already...But I have only three more classes to go! So, since my paper is now done, albeit it two days late, I should gpo to bed so I can do it all again tommorow!

Done!

So, it is done! Finally! After much planning, effort, blood, sweat and tears, the most recent Anaheim 4th Ward activity is done! This means we can finally breathe easy and relax...at least till next time! It actually turned out okay...we did a modern day pioneer thing...talking about pioneer stories as well as how we are all pioneers. We also talked about how we are all pioneers. We played cool games like packing your own handcart, reusable grocery sack races, what's in your 72 hour kit? and Don't forget the lyrics...to pioneer primary songs. Do you know how many times the word walk is in "Pioneer children sang as they walked and walked and walked? " I didn't.

So, it is done, and we can relax and get back to looking for a house! Speaking of, I should probably clean mine...

Hi

So, once again I have been lax about posting. I really should be getting ready for work now, but really, who wants to do that when they can sit on their rear end and blog? It seems life is a lot of the same lately, although we are excited to have more cousins in CA yo play with like Laura and Cody and Joel and Claire. We are still looking for a new place to live. After a lot of praying and waiting for a neon sign that never came, (I have come to believe that neon signs are usually not the way it works... It seems that God often says you choose and move forward and I'll let you know if its wrong. ) we have decided to look for a place to by in So Cal. There is part of us that would love Utah for many reasons, but we feel happy about So Cal.

I also wanted to comment on the recent Worldwide Leadership Training Program insert in the Ensign. I admit we did not go originally, because we felt it honestly would be non applicable to us. But, I finally picked it up and read the first half of it on Tuesday, and I am amazed at what I missed. It is a spectacular discussion of families and their importance. The Church's stance on certain things may not be popular right now, but it is right.

Okay off my soapbox. I guess I have to go to work now!

Hello again

So, it has been a while, at least for me. Tiffany had a good vent post about the horribleness that is "Swingtown", but I have been away foir a while. To sum briefly...and I promise more to come...pictures and everything...We had a great vacation! We drove to Hearst castle, all the way up CA to near Oregon, then bacjk through San Francisco to Mom and Dad Laney's, then over to Utah! Sadly, our time there was shorther than we would have liked, which meant we missied trevor and will miss Joel's wedding, but our love and hearts go out to everybody! We may even sneak back up there soon...we shall see.

I must say though, the highlight , or lowlight, of our vacation was probably watching Michael smack his head and end up in the emergency room. I do have some pictures that I may post, and video that I may just keep private. That was FUN! We did really enjoy our Utah time though, and wished it was longer. We even got the idea to put Utah on our list of possibilities to move to -again. It has been off and on for years...but we are seriousy looking for a place...we just don't know where yet.

So, the only reason I am upo rambling this late is that I am trying to finish work on a team project for my online class...and my team won't respnd and now Microsoft Word is crazy! AAAAAAGH! Okay I'm done. I need slep! Will post pictures soon!

are you kidding me?!

So, I've been thinking a lot about this new show they have coming out called (get this): Swingers. Yes, it about what you think it's about. I can't believe that media has gotten so desperate to stoop to such a horrific level. It's gross that they would think that American people would want to watch such a show. What is it going to take for the world to say, "no more". Well, this american, Christian is though! I have better things to do. I'm going to read, write my book, practice singing, read my scriptures, and watch "I love Lucy."
Okay, I think I'm done with my rave now, but seriously, I'm done. I'm tired of not being happy with the stuff on t.v, but not doing something about it. I'm going to write to NBC and complain. Even if nothing happens, I'm going to let the world know where I stand.
As a quote from Indiana Jones says, "It's time to ask yourself what you believe." I don't know what do you think?

Vacation!

The day we have waited for so long is finally here! Vacation! We have two weeks of no work, no stress, etc! Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was that enough exclamation points?

I have so needed this, ad Tiffany too. We are going to start by Tiffany attending the Time Out for Women Event in San Diego with her sister in law, and I am going to be crazy and with their dad take three kids to LegoLand. Then, we actually hgave no plans yet. We may show up in Utah...or Zimbabwe. No clue! Yea Vacation!

I love Sunday Naps!

So, today was a good day at church. We got up early for a 7:30 am ward council meeting, had a good day at church-Tiffany even sang in sacrament meeting!- and Bob taught Elder's quorum. Then we came, home, and shortly thereafter took the best Sunday invention ever...the nap!. Afterwards, I felt much better, especially after a freezing cold shower! I even went home teaching! Impressive, I know. All due to a Sunday Nap! I think world peace could be achieved if more sunday naps were taken...Maybe I should e-mail Jimmy Carter...

Life, The Universe, and Most Everything

So, yesterday, after falling victim to a mild episode of road rage when someone cut me off, and then some pedestrian cantered across the street at an inoppurtune moment, and being confronted with horrible customer service at the grocery store(one of my pet peeves) I was in a horrible mood. After I took a deep breath, and counted to ten, and had a good discussion with my lovely wife, I realized I had life pretty good. (Okay so it was a coupla hours till I calmed down, but still. ) I have a beautiful wife brimming with pulchritude. (It's my new word of the day...look it up. :) )We have sufficient to meet our needs. We have the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is what's important.

We are looking forward to change that the Spirit whispers it is time for like moving into a house, me switching careers to follow my dreams, all kinds of new and exciting things that come with that like revisiting adoption or other options once we have a child suitable place to live other than our mid range ghetto aprtment, and all kinds of stuff that we don't even know yet. So, to the crazy world who for many things makes we want to scream at the radio when I listen to the news, do your worst! Life is still okay.

Seeing is believing

Bob said that I should do a blog this time, so I decided to showcase some pictures of my favorite place, Disneyland. Pictures that you might not get another chance to see. Enjoy!
This is from the Haunted Mansion. This is the rocking chair that the "ghost" grandma sits in during the ballroom scene. Notice how even the chair has a face. Never noticed it , did you?

This is the picture that Cast Members refer to as the velvet Elvis. It's always there, just hidden. See if you can spot it the next time you go into the Haunted Mansion. If you look close there is a tear running down Elvis' cheek.

Main Street before the park opened. It's one of my favorite moment and reason why being a Cast Member was so great.
Aren't I cute?! I think we were on Winnie the Pooh and Bob didn't tell me that he was going to take a picture. I hope you have enjoyed this journey into some of the great moments that....you will never be apart of. Ha Ha.

The Promised Green Food!

So here is the extent of our St Patty's Day Festivities. It was a beautiful tasting green grilled cheese(of course cheese!) sandwich. It was a busy day, but we stayed true! Long live Ireland!

Aaaah! No TV!

So, after Celebrity Aprrentice last Thursday, we turned off our TV. (C'mon we had to see who won! It's like going to Taco Bell at midnight befrore Fast Sunday. ) We decided to see what our lives would be like for a week with no TV. After going through a few withdrawl sysmptoms, it has actually been ok. We talk to each other more, get more stuff done even read our scriptures! Now, I'm not saying that TV is bad, but I am saying that tonight after work instead of plopping down in front of the TV, I actually went for a walk! Crazy, I know.

Other than that , life has been okay. We are moving along in the process of looking for a new place to live, and had a good Easter and St. Patricks day. More pictures to come of green food later!

Concotions "R" Bob

So, I like to putter in the kitchen occasionally. Most of the time, I enjoy the fruits of my labor...though oftimes they are more like the sugary sweet treats of my labors. Tonight, I messed around with a brownie recipie. You can see how it came out. Tiffany enjoyed eating it...though she did stipulate that I make frosting for it first to make it *ahem* palatable.

Tiffany says it tasted like sugary rock. Oh well, on to the next concotion...when Tiffany isn't looking. Muhahahahahahahaha!

Fast (Slow) Sunday

So, today was Fast Sunday. Sometimes, these Sundays are so unbearably slow! This one wasn't bad though. We made it to church (on time!) and enjoyed all the meeetings, even with some random testimonies, including incredibly heartfelt and slightly odd thanks to all the Utah visitors who were there. It was actually a good spiritual sacrament meeting . We then went home and napped for abou three hours, and went to the in-laws. So, all in all a Fast Sunday that was not slow. Sundays are often my favorite day of the week.

Random Thoughts

So, I meant for all the posts below to be in the reverse chronolgical order they are in, but enjoy them anyway.

Life is rough sometimes. We have been trying to decide where to move to, and a host of other decisions too, like adopting children, school, careers, etcetra ad infinitum and ad nausea. It does all get overwhelming sometimes. Every time we make ground in one direction, it seems we fall back somewhere else. wherever we go, I'm glad we have each other. What keeps us and me in particular sane, are the scriptures and each other. The days where I read(even trying to keep up with a cool website like http://hinckleychallenge.com) make all the difference in the world, even with the crazy California drivers on my hour commute to work.

Stuff

So, this picture really has nothing to do with much of anything. We were over at Tiffany's brother's house, adn the misisonaries were there too, and a very incredibly amazing photographer caught this shot that looks like a church magazine shot. So here's the random part of this post.

These others are just me without glasses and with. I like without mostl, but that could be because I can't see well when my glasses are off. :).

Valentine's Day

Feburary is always a good month for Tiffany, as she gets her birthday and Valentine's day too. While this picture wasn't exactly on Valentine's Day, it fits. I do love her and adore, and a window her forever and alawys. She will always be my Valentine.

Tiffany told me to get creative this year so I did. I made her her own edible boquet...I took Krispy Kreme's
heart shaped Valentine's donust, put them on barbeque skewers, added chocoloate roses, and marshmallows on skewers to lok like baby's breath. I am tooting my own horn, but I was and am proud of the way it turned out. Plus she loved it, which was the important part.

These are the other presents from that day. She got lots of candy and chocolate, the third season of
Sabrina:The Teenage Witch on DVD, and her Nintendo DS, actually a birthday present, arrived that day too.
It was a beautiful day, made even more so by the most beautiful girl in the world!
